Janek Gwizdala

Janek Gwizdala, born on November 19, 1978, in London, England, is a renowned jazz bassist, composer, and producer. Initially drawn to drums, he transitioned to bass guitar after being inspired by Laurence Cottle. Gwizdala attended Berklee College of Music in the U.S., where he honed his craft. 

Over his career, Gwizdala has collaborated with notable jazz artists such as Ronny Jordan, Bob Reynolds, and Marcus Miller.

 

As a bandleader, his discography includes albums like “Mystery to Me” (2004), “Live at the 55bar” (2008), and “American Elm” (2016). 

Beyond performing, Gwizdala is an accomplished author, having written several instructional books for bassists.

 

He also shares his expertise through podcasts and online lessons, contributing significantly to the global bass community. 

Currently residing in California with his family, Gwizdala continues to influence the jazz scene through both his performances and educational endeavors.
